PUB98: Text Containing a Drop Cap Moves when an Object Touches the Text Frame (216839)

SYMPTOMS

When you have a text frame that contains a drop cap, and you move another object, such as another text frame or graphic onto or near the original text frame, the text next to the drop cap will shift slightly to the right. This only happens when the Wrap text around objects option is enabled in the Text Frame Properties of the text frame containing the drop cap.

WORKAROUND

To workaround this problem, disable the Wrap text around objects property for the text frame. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Select the text frame that has the drop cap.
  2. On the Format menu, click Text Frame Properties.
  3. Click to clear the Wrap text around objects check box.
  4. Click OK.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
