This article was previously published under Q216821 SYMPTOMS
"Contextless logins" are a new feature in Novell NetWare version 5, whereby users do not have to specify a context before logging on. NetWare 5 uses NDS catalog services for a global search to find a user's context. However, contextless logins are not currently supported by Windows 2000 Gateway Services for NetWare (GSNW) or Client Services for NetWare (CSNW).
CAUSE
GSNW and CSNW were written before the release of NetWare 5.
RESOLUTION
Contextless logins can be implemented in Windows 2000 by installing the Novell Client for Windows 2000.
Contact Novell for further information about currently available versions of the Novell Client for Windows 2000.
