SYMPTOMS

The DHCP Service may cause an access violation in Tcpsvcs.exe when you attempt to start the DHCP Administration program (Dhcpadmn.exe) connecting locally or remotely.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the DHCP server does not properly initialize a structure created to hold client information.

RESOLUTION

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Windows NT 4.0. This problem was first corrected in Windows NT version 4.0 Service Pack 5.
