SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Outlook, when you create new tasks in your task list, they will not be recognized as Microsoft Project tasks and will not be included in TeamUpdate or TeamStatus messages.

CAUSE

There is no way to indicate that tasks created in Microsoft Outlook are also Microsoft Project tasks. When you add a new task to your Outlook task list, it is not recognized as a Microsoft Project task because Microsoft Project tasks include addressing information that Outlook needs to populate the custom form and update tasks in Microsoft Project. If the task is created in Outlook, this information will not be available to the custom form.

WORKAROUND

To add new tasks to the list of Microsoft Project tasks assigned to a resource, the project manager has to create a task, assign the resource to the task and then send a TeamAssign message to the resource.
