Catalog Propagation Fails When There Are Pending Search Queries (216741)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Site Server 3.0
This article was previously published under Q216741 SYMPTOMS
Catalog propagation fails when there are pending search queries on
computer running Site Server Search.
CAUSE
During propagation, when one catalog is being replaced with a new one, it
waits for all queries on the old catalog to complete. However, it only
waits as long as it takes for a query to timeout and fail (approximately
two minutes). After this point, if there are still active queries, it
assumes that the queries should have timed out or succeeded, and
therefore, the update fails.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, install the latest service pack for Site Server
3.0.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Site Server version 3.0. This problem has been corrected in the
