Incorrect Product Version Displayed for SQL Server 7.0 on SBS 4.5 (216699)

SYMPTOMS

The product version of SQL Server can be determined by selecting the server in SQL Server Enterprise Manager, right-clicking it, and selecting Properties.

In the Small Business Server edition of SQL Server 7.0, the product will be identified as SQL Server Standard Edition.

RESOLUTION

The correct version of SQL Server 7.0 can be found using the following method:
  1. On the Start menu, click Programs, and then click Microsoft SQL Server 7.0.
  2. Select Query Analyzer.
  3. In the Query Builder, type "Select @@version".
  4. On the Query menu, click Execute, or press F5 to run the query.
  5. The results window will show the correct version as:

    Small Business Server Edition for Windows NT 4.0

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Small Business Server 4.5.
