SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to play a video clip in Microsoft Encarta 99, you may see a blank box that contains an error message similar to the following:
Video not available.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the Microsoft Windows Media Player is missing or damaged.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, remove and reinstall Windows Media Player. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs, and then click the Windows Setup tab.
  3. Under Components, click to clear the Multimedia check box, and then click Apply.
  4. Click to select the Multimedia check box, and then click OK.
  5. Close Control Panel.
