SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to create files or folders with long names on a Novell NetWare 5 Novell Storage System (NSS) volume from a Windows-based computer running Gateway Services for NetWare (GSNW) or Client Services for NetWare (CSNW), you receive the following error message:
The specified path is invalid

CAUSE

Long file names are not supported from Windows-based computers using GSNW or CSNW to NetWare 5 NSS volumes.

MORE INFORMATION

NSS volumes are 64-bit indexed storage systems available in NetWare 5. If you need to use long file names from Windows-based computers to NetWare 5 NSS volumes, use Novell's Client for Windows 2000 or Windows NT 4.0.
