Cannot Delete Subnets from Quality of Service Manager (216294)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Server
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server

This article was previously published under Q216294

SYMPTOMS

In the Quality of Service manager, you can add subnets in order to apply policies. However, if you right-click a subnet and then click Delete, you delete only the policies associated with the subnet. You cannot delete the subnet itself.

CAUSE

You cannot delete subnets from this location because they are shared for other options. Since the subnets entries are shared, the Quality of Service manager has no way of knowing what other items will be affected.

RESOLUTION

To delete subnets:
  1. Start the Active Directory Sites and Services Manager from the My Administrative Tools menu.
  2. Expand the Sites fork and then expand the Subnets fork.
  3. Right-click the subnet you want to delete, and then click Delete.
  4. When you are prompted to verify the deletion, click Yes.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
