128-Bit Encryption Upgrade May Not Work with Service Pack 4 (216270)

SYMPTOMS

When you upgrade to 128-bit encryption for Internet Explorer on a Windows NT 4.0-based computer with Service Pack 4, the upgrade may not provide 128-bit security.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because the files that are installed by the 128-bit security update are older than the Service Pack 4 security files already on your computer.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, install Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 4, 128-Bit North American Version. This is available at the following Microsoft Web site:
