PRJ: Error Message Replying to Workgroup Message with Lotus Notes Client (216151)

When you reply to a Microsoft Project workgroup message in Lotus Notes client 4.5 or later, you may receive any of the following error messages:
An error occurred during initialization. The attachment contained in the message you are trying to open could not be retrieved successfully.
An error occurred while processing a request on an object.
An error occurred during initialization. An error occurred while saving the file. The data was not saved.
CAUSE
This problem may occur if the Lotus Notes client is not configured correctly to work with Windows messaging. For the Lotus Notes client to be properly configured, you must install the Windows messaging components
on the system before you install the Lotus Notes client.
Lotus Notes makes additional changes to the system when it detects that Windows messaging components are installed on the system.
NOTE: You may also receive this message if the User Name setting on the General tab of the Options dialog box is blank. (On the Tools menu, click Options.) This setting needs to have the manager's e-mail address.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, install the Lotus Notes client after installing Windows Messaging on the system, by following these steps:
- Remove the Lotus Notes client.
- Install the Windows Messaging components, if not already installed.
- Install the Lotus Notes client.
NOTE: This process requires you to remove and reinstall the Lotus Notes client. You need to have the documentation for Notes available before you begin.
Remove the Lotus Notes Client- Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
- Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon. Click to select Lotus Notes in the list of programs, and then click Add/Remove.
- Click Remove All to remove Lotus Notes.
Install the Windows Messaging Components, If Not Already InstalledNOTE: The Windows messaging components are already installed on your computer if Control Panel contains an icon named Mail or Mail and Fax.
Use the appropriate method for your version of Windows.
Microsoft Windows 95- Connect to the following Microsoft Web site:
- Click Download.
- Under the Communications section, click Exchange Update and follow the download and installation instructions.
Microsoft Windows 98- Locate Wms.exe on the Windows 98 CD-ROM in the Tools\OldWin95\Message directory.
- Double-click the Wms.exe file.
- Follow the instructions provided by the Setup program.
- If prompted to restart your computer when Setup is completed, click OK to allow Setup to finalize settings.
Microsoft Windows NT 4.0- Click Start, point to Settings and click Control Panel.
- In Control Panel, double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.
- On the Windows Setup tab, click to select Windows
Messaging, and then click Details.
- Click to select the Windows Messaging check box, and then
click OK.

Install the Lotus Notes Client and Create a Mail Profile- Install the Lotus Notes client.
NOTE: Refer to your Lotus Notes documentation. - In Windows 95/98 or Windows NT 4.0, click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
- Double-click the Mail or Mail and Fax icon.
- Click Show Profiles.
- Click Add, and select only Lotus Notes Mail for the new profile. Then, click Next.
- Name the new profile, and then click Next. Leave the default settings for Personal Address Book and Personal Folders, and then click Finish.
- In the list of profiles, click the new profile.
- Click Properties.
- In the list of services, click Personal Address Book, and then click Remove. Do the same for Personal Folders.
- On the Delivery tab, make sure that Lotus Notes Transport is selected.
- On the Addressing tab, click Add. Add the address book for the group that you belong to, and then click Add.
- In the Show this address list first list, select the address book you will use most often.
- Click OK.
You may need to select a profile to use the next time you use an e-mail function in Microsoft Project.
