  • Microsoft Outlook 2000

This article was previously published under Q216131
NOTE: The procedures in this article only apply if you have installed Outlook with the Corporate or Workgroup option. With this option, you can use Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) services. To determine your installation type, click About Microsoft Outlook on the Help menu. If you have the Corporate or Workgroup installation, you see "Corporate or Workgroup".

SYMPTOMS

You are using a computer configured to use the Japanese version of Windows with Outlook configured to Japanese, using the Microsoft Office 2000 Language Pack, to attach to a cc:Mail post office. In addtion, you have the system date format on your computer set to Gregorian (Japanese). When you attempt to import items previously stored on the cc:Mail post office, you receive an error similar to the following:
Possible incompatible date format (Day=x Month =y ). Please check your regstry ccm_date_tmpl setting, select the proper date format and try again.
In the error message, where x and y are displayed, the integers for Day and Month will be reversed. In addition, the error message will be partially in Japanese and partially in English.

CAUSE

The Office 2000 Language Pack does not display all error messages in the localized language, in this case Japanese. The import utility, Cwimport.exe and error messages it may generate are not localized for the Japanese language and are not affected by the Language Pack.

RESOLUTION

In order to display more error message text in the localized language, it is necessary to match the localized language version of Office 2000 with the localized language version of Windows.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Outlook 2000.

MORE INFORMATION

The Office 2000 Language Pack provides language support for inputing information in the selected language and for displaying some application-specific errors. Some error messages may still display in English.
