OL2000: Calendar Saved to a UNIX Web Server with FTP May not Display Properly (216113)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Outlook 2000

This article was previously published under Q216113

SYMPTOMS

You can save a calendar as a Web page and place it on the Internet to share it with others. However, when you use FTP to directly publish an HTML calendar to a UNIX Internet Web server, it may not display properly.

CAUSE

Microsoft Outlook creates filenames in all uppercase characters when using the FTP protocol. The file name is expected to be in all lowercase characters on a UNIX server, and therefore will not display correctly.

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, save the HTML calendar to a local drive and then use a utility such as the Microsoft Web Publishing Wizard to copy the calendar to the Internet.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

To Save a Calendar as a Web page to a local drive, follow these steps:
  1. In the Calendar folder, on the File menu, click Save as Web Page.
  2. In the File name box, type the name of the file you wish to save with a path to a folder on your local hard drive.
  3. Once Outlook has saved the HTML calendar files to the folder on the local drive, use the Web Publishing Wizard or a similar utility to copy the files to the UNIX server on the Internet.
