Install a Sample Gateway with a Non-Service Account

  1. Select an Windows NT account under the EDK sample gateway service will run.
  2. With the Exchange Administrator program, connect to the Exchange Server that the gateway will be installed.
  3. Select the Configuration container, and display the Properties page.
  4. Add "Permission Admin" rights for the selected Windows NT account.
  5. Select the Site container, and display the Properties page.
  6. Again, add "Permission Admin" rights for the selected Windows NT account. This completes the Exchange Administrator part of the process.
  7. Start the Windows NT "User Manager for Domains". For quicker response, use the command line, and specify the name of the Exchange Server computer. For example: USRMGR <computername>.
  8. Select the Administrators group from the bottom pane.
  9. Add the selected Windows NT account to the Windows NT Administrators group.
  10. In the upper pane, select the Windows NT account, and grant these rights: "Logon as a service", "Act as part of the operating system" and "Logon locally". This completes the User Manager part of the process.
  11. Close all programs, and log on to Windows NT with the selected Windows NT account. Then, follow the steps in:

    Replace the string "Exchange-Service-Account" with the selected Windows NT account and "Password" with the password for the selected Windows NT account.
