You receive "illegal operation" error message and changes are lost when you change Equation Editor objects (214766)

After you resize and edit an inserted Equation Editor object several times, you may see the following error message:
This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.
If you press Details, you are given the following information:
MSPUB caused an invalid page fault in module PUBOLE9.DLL
WORKAROUND
Insert the equation editor object within another application like Microsoft PowerPoint or Microsoft Word.
- After creating the new Microsoft Equation, select the object. You will notice the resizing handles.
- On the Edit menu, click Copy
- On the Edit menu in Microsoft Publisher, click Paste Special, and then click Picture.
NOTE: This will insert the object as an image and not as an equation editor object. If changes are needed you will repeat steps above within the originating application the object was copied from. STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
