MSPS Err Msg: Microsoft Call Manager Is Unable to Open the Messages Page... (214700)

SYMPTOMS

When you start Microsoft Call Manager, you may receive the following error message:

Microsoft Call Manager is unable to open the Messages page. You may be low on system resources. Close other programs, and then try again. If the problem persists, restart your computer.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the Msimnui.dll file is missing or damaged, or you do not have Microsoft Outlook Express installed on your computer.

NOTE: You must have Outlook Express installed on your computer. Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express are not the same product.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, remove and then reinstall Outlook Express. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  3. On the Windows Setup tab, click to clear the Microsoft Outlook Express check box, and then click OK.
  4. Delete the contents of the Outlook Express folder. The path to the default location of the Outlook Express folder is

    <drive>:\Program Files\Outlook Express

    where <drive> is the letter of the hard disk on which Microsoft Windows is installed.

    For information about how to delete files or folders, click Start, click Help, click the Index tab, type deleting files, folders, and then click Display.
  5. Restart the computer.

    NOTE: If you receive the following error message
    Advanced INF Uninstall

    Error creating process C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\_isetup.exe /user /uninstall

    Reason: The system cannot find the file specified.
    click OK.
  6. Click Start, click Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  7. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  8. On the Windows Setup tab (Install/Uninstall tab in Windows 95), click to select the Microsoft Outlook Express check box, and then click OK.
  9. Reinstall Internet Explorer.
