SYMPTOMS

When you restart your computer after installing the drivers for your Diamond G460 video adapter, your computer may continuously restart when the "Log On to Windows" dialog box appears.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if your Diamond G460 video adapter uses an I740 chip set, and you install the Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Diamond G460 driver included with your video adapter instead of the I740 driver included with Windows 2000. The Windows NT 4.0 Diamond G460 driver is incompatible with Windows 2000.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, contact Diamond to inquire about the availability of a Windows 2000 driver for your video adapter.

To work around this behavior, start Windows 2000 in Safe mode and then install the I740 driver included with Windows 2000.

To start Windows 2000 in Safe mode, restart your computer, press F8 when you are prompted for an operating system to use, and then choose Safe Mode from the Windows NT Advanced Options menu.

For information about how to install drivers in Windows 2000, click Start, click Help, click the Index tab, type installing, click the "Installing drivers" topic, and then click Display.
