XL2000: Data Map Remains in Memory for Each Map Created in a Workbook (214380)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Excel 2000

This article was previously published under Q214380

SYMPTOMS

When you create multiple maps in Microsoft Excel 2000, Microsoft Data Map remains in random access memory (RAM) for each map that you create in a workbook.

CAUSE

Microsoft Data Map is a single-document program, which means that it can use only one set of data at a time. Therefore, one instance of Data Map is loaded into memory for each set of data (each map object) that is present in the workbook.

MORE INFORMATION

Each time that you create a map in Excel, system resources are used by the Microsoft Data Map program in memory. This may cause the system to perform more slowly.
