This article was previously published under Q214378 SYMPTOMS
When you open a Microsoft Excel workbook that contains a chart, the data labels may not be where you positioned them when you last saved the file.
CAUSE
This problem can occur when the following conditions are true:
- You create a workbook that contains a chart in Microsoft Excel 7.0.
- You insert data labels in the chart and change the position of the
data labels.
- You open the workbook in Microsoft Excel 2000.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. MORE INFORMATION
This behavior does not occur for all charts or chart types. For example,
the behavior does not always occur when you use a line chart. The chart
may be in a slightly different position when you use a pie chart. However, when you use a stacked column chart, the chart may be completely repositioned.
In some cases, labels may disappear.
