XL2000: Moving Average Period Reduced by 256 After You Save the File (214317)
The information in this article applies to:
This article was previously published under Q214317 SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Excel 2000, when you open a file that contains a chart, some or all of the trendlines on the chart may not be displayed correctly.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if the following conditions are true:
- Your chart contains a moving average trendline.
-and-
- You set the Period value of the trendline to a value greater than 255.
If a moving average trendline's Period value is 256 or greater, this value is reduced by 256 when you save and reopen the file that contains the chart.
For example, a moving average trendline with an initial Period value of 365 has this value reduced to 109 (365-256=109) when you save and
reopen the file. An initial Period value of 256 is reduced to 0
(zero) when you save and reopen the file.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
