XL2000: Objects Overlap onto Next Page with PCL Printers (214236)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Excel 2000

This article was previously published under Q214236

SYMPTOMS

When you print a worksheet that contains a drawing object that overlaps a horizontal page break, although the entire object prints on that page, part of the object may print on the next page as well.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when you print to any printer whose driver uses the Printer Control Language (PCL).

WORKAROUND

To print the worksheet correctly, turn the gridlines on for printing. This forces the object to print in only the cells in which it is anchored. To turn on gridlines, follow these steps:
  1. On the File menu, click Page Setup.
  2. Click the Sheet tab, and then click to select the Gridlines check box.
  3. Click OK. To not display the gridlines when you print, add the following steps to those above:

  4. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  5. Click the View tab.
  6. In the drop-down Color box, click the White icon, and then click OK.
