When you use the AutoCaption feature to insert a caption for a Microsoft
Equation 3.0 object, the caption indicates that the object is a figure instead of an equation.
WORKAROUND
To change the default setting so that the caption label correctly indicates that the object is an equation, follow these steps.
- On the Insert menu, click Caption, and then click AutoCaption.
- In the AutoCaption dialog box, select the Microsoft Equation 3.0 check box.
- In the Use label box, click Equation. Or click New Label, and then type a new label.
- Click OK.
Now, when you insert an Equation Editor object, the caption that you specified automatically appears.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
