This article was previously published under Q214061 SUMMARY
In Microsoft Excel 2000, there are two types of defined names: global names and local names. Global names are available to the entire workbook, and local names are available only to the sheet where they are defined. The amount of system resources and memory used by global and local names is the same.
NOTE: In Excel versions 5.0 and later, local names behave
similarly to defined names in earlier versions of Excel.
