OL97: Round-trip RTF Message may Cause a Fault in Outlook (213025)

SYMPTOMS

You may receive a failure in Outlook when you open a response to a message you previously sent to a user running Outlook 2000. This can happen under the following conditions:
  • You sent the message using the Internet Mail service.
  • You sent the message in Microsoft Outlook Rich-Text format (RTF).
  • The respondent sent the return message in RTF.

RESOLUTION

Send Internet Mail messages in Plain Text format or install the Internet Mail Enhancement Patch (IMEP).

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
