OL2000: Contact with No Name Is Not Included in Linked Contacts (212920)

SYMPTOMS

You cannot link an Outlook Contact to another Contact that has no Name or File as field.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

To link a contact with another contact, the contact to which you are linking must have a value in either the Name or the File as field.

Steps to Reproduce Problem

  1. Create and save a new contact record with no values in the Name and File as fields.
  2. Open an existing contact and click Contacts in the lower-left corner of the form.
  3. In Select Contacts, click to select the Contacts folder from the upper pane and then click to select one or more contact records from the lower pane. Be sure to select the contact that has no values in the Name or File as field.
  4. Click OK.
RESULT: All contacts selected are displayed in the linked contacts window except for the one with no Name or File as values.
