MORE INFORMATION
If you import or paste more text into a frame than that frame can hold,
you will see the following message:
The Inserted text doesn't fit in this frame. Do you want to use Autoflow? To have Publisher automatically flow text throughout your publication, asking for confirmation before it flows into existing frames, click Yes. To connect frames yourself, click No. For instructions on connecting text frames, press F1 now.
If you click Yes, Publisher will go to the next empty text frame it finds and displays the following message:
Autoflow to this frame? To flow text to the selected frame, click Yes. To skip the selected frame, click No. To cancel Autoflow, click Cancel. For information on connecting text frames, press F1 now.
If you click
Yes, this frame will be used. If there is no empty text frame or still not enough room to finish bringing in the text, you will receive this message:
Do you want Publisher to automatically create text frames? To have Publisher automatically create text frames and pages for the remaining text, click Yes. To cancel Autoflow now, click No. For information on inserting text files, press F1 now.
If you click
Yes, Publisher will insert new pages and create text frames on as many pages as are needed to fit all of the text.
If you click
No for any of the previously listed questions, the text will appear in the current text frame. The
Text In Overflow indicator (that is,
A...), indicating that there is more text in the overflow area that is not currently being displayed on the screen, will be displayed on the bottom of the text frame.
To manually link frames, or to go to the text in the overflow area, follow
these steps:
- Click to select an empty text frame or draw a new text frame using the text tool. The Connect Frames toolbar will appear.
- On the Connect frames toolbar, click Connect Text Frames (the Chain). The pointer changes to a pitcher.
- Move the pointer to the new text frame and click inside the
frame.
The text will now appear. If the new text frame does not have a
Text In
Overflow indicator, then there is no more text to be autoflowed. If
Connect has an ellipsis, repeat the previous steps until all the text
appears.
You can also use
Connect to show a chain. A chain indicates that two or more text frames are connected to each other. Next to the chain will be another button with an arrow pointing in the direction of the next connected text frame. At the top of the text frame will be an arrow button pointing back to the previous text frame. When you click either of these buttons, the cursor will move to the next or previous connected text frame.
