PUB2000: Object Border Hard to See When Dragging Object (212535)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Publisher 2000

This article was previously published under Q212535

SYMPTOMS

When you drag a text box or object around your publication, the object's outline is difficult to see against the white page.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs after you create a custom color scheme in Windows, or a color scheme that uses a dark color for three-dimensional (3-D) objects. Publisher obtains the color information from the registry and uses a contrasting color for object borders.

For example, if you select blue for a three-dimensional object, you will see a yellow border. If you select black and you drag the object in Publisher, you will see a white border.

RESOLUTION

To improve the contrast of the outline border, use the Windows default color scheme or select a lighter color for 3-D objects. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. On the Windows Start menu, point to Settings, and click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Display .
  3. Click the Appearance tab.
  4. From the Display list, click to select one of the Windows Standard options.

    -or-

From the Item list, select 3D Objects, and then click to select a color from the Color list.
  5. Click Apply.
  6. Click OK.
