PUB2000: How to Justify a Single Line (212525)

SUMMARY

Microsoft Publisher does not justify the last line in a paragraph. In addition, if you have only a single line of text in a text frame, Publisher does not justify that single line.

Publisher is designed to justify all lines of text in a paragraph except the last line or a single line of text. This behavior is similar to Microsoft Word.

You can justify a single line of text in Publisher by using one of the following methods.

If you want to create a single line in a Publisher text frame and have that one line justified, use the following methods.

Method 1: Use the Autofit Text Command

1. Create a text frame wide enough to accommodate the line of text.
2. Type your text.
3. On the Format menu, point to Autofit Text, and then click Best Fit.

NOTE: Using this method will either increase or decrease the size of the text to accommodate the Best Fit feature.

Method 2: Force Justification

You can force Microsoft Publisher into justifying your line of text.

1. Create a text frame wide enough to accommodate the line of text.
2. On the Formatting toolbar, click Justified. Or, press CTRL+J.
3. Press SHIFT+ENTER to insert a hard carriage return. This forces Publisher to end one line and begin another without starting a new paragraph.
