PPT2000: Pattern Filled Lines or Objects Are Printed Incorrectly (212436)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft PowerPoint 2000
This article was previously published under Q212436 SYMPTOMS
If you format a line or object with a pattern fill, the line or object may
print with a white fill. If you view the slide in Black And White view, the
line or object displays with a grayscale pattern fill.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs if you selected the Pure black and white check box in the Print dialog box before you printed the presentation.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem and print the object correctly, use either of the
following methods.
Method 1: Change the Object's Black and White Behavior
Use this method if your slide is one that would normally not print well in
black and white (for example, it may have a dark gradient background and
small, light-colored text.)
- On the View menu, click Black And White.
- Right-click the object you want to change. Point to Black And White on the menu that appears, and then click the effect you want to use, such as Grayscale, Inverse Grayscale, or Light Grayscale.
The object no longer prints incorrectly, even if the Pure black and white check box in the Print dialog box is selected.
Method 2: Do Not Print With the Pure Black and White Option Selected
Use this method if your slide is one that would normally print well to a
black and white printer (for example, it has a plain, light-colored
background and dark text and graphics).
- On the File menu, click Print.
- Click to clear the Pure black and white check box.
- Change any other print settings you want, and then click OK.
MORE INFORMATION
Black and White printing is a PowerPoint feature that you can use to print
a slide that would normally not print well to a black and white printer.
The Grayscale check box in the Print dialog box is selected by default, when you use a black and white printer. Your slide may not require this
option to print correctly in black and white.
For more information about printing color slides in black and white, click Microsoft PowerPoint Help on the
Help menu, type How do I print in black and white? in the Office Assistant or
the Answer Wizard, and then click Search to view the topics
returned.
