WD2000: Some Fonts Not Listed in Font Box When You Use the Find or Replace Commands (212192)
The information in this article applies to:
This article was previously published under Q212192 SYMPTOMS
When you search for a font in a document using the Find or Replace command, the font may not be listed in the Font box in the Find Font dialog box.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if the font is embedded in the Microsoft Word 2000 document. In the Find Font dialog box, Word lists only those fonts that are installed on the operating system. Fonts embedded in a Word document are not available as formatting options in the Find and Replace commands.
If a document contains text formatted with an embedded font, the font name is listed in the font list on the Formatting toolbar. This information is preserved to facilitate roundtrip transfer between different computers and platforms.
RESOLUTION
To search for a font that is embedded in a document but not installed on
the operating system, type the font name into the Font box in the
Find Font dialog box. To do this, follow these steps:
- On the Edit menu, click Find.
- Click More, click Format, and then click Font.
- Click the Font tab.
- Type the font name in the Font box, and then click OK.
