WD2000: Background Repagination Cannot Be Turned Off (212086)

SYMPTOMS

The Background repagination option is selected and is unavailable (dimmed) for you to clear (turn off).

To locate this option, click Options on the Tools menu, and then click the General tab.

CAUSE

Background repagination repaginates documents automatically as you work. This check box is unavailable in print layout view, print preview, and Web layout view, because background repagination occurs by default in these views (you cannot turn it off).

RESOLUTION

To turn off background repagination, change the document view to normal or outline view.

MORE INFORMATION

Repagination in Word cannot be totally turned off. This is because Word has to repaginate the document in print layout view, in print preview, and in Web layout view to correctly display the document.
