WD2000: Footnote Not Found When You Click "Footnote Mark" in "Find" (212055)

SYMPTOMS

When you are searching for a footnote and you click Footnote Mark on the shortcut menu that appears when you click Special (in the Find and Replace dialog box, click More and then click Special), Word may not find the footnote.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs if the Search option is set to Down or Up, rather than All.

RESOLUTION

To change the Search option to All, follow these steps:
  1. On the Edit menu, click Find.
  2. In the Find and Replace dialog box, on the Find tab, click More.
  3. Under Search Options, in the Search box, click All.
