XL2000: Callout Adjustment Handle Disappears When Moved (212001)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Excel 2000

This article was previously published under Q212001

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Excel, you can move the yellow adjustment handles for a callout to adjust the location and size of the callout. If a callout has three or more adjustment handles, when you move the handles, one of them disappears.

CAUSE

This problem may occur when you move one of the adjustment handles so that it is on top of another handle for the same callout. When this is the case, the handle beneath the other becomes unusable and may not be visible.

RESOLUTION

When this problem occurs, there is no way to recover the handle. If you require the additional yellow adjustment handle to size or position the callout line, you must re-create the callout.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

Available AutoShapes include basic shapes like rectangles and circles, as well as a variety of lines and connectors, block arrows, flowchart symbols and banners, and callouts. To insert an AutoShape, click AutoShapes on the Drawing toolbar.
