XL2000: Customize Dialog Box Stays Behind Toolbars When Clicked (211988)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Excel 2000

This article was previously published under Q211988

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Customize dialog box in Microsoft Excel, it may appear behind any floating toolbars that occupy the same area of the screen, rather than appearing in front of them.

CAUSE

This may occur if you activate the Customize dialog box by clicking somewhere inside the dialog box, rather than on its title bar.

WORKAROUND

If this problem occurs, click the title bar of the Customize dialog box. It will then appear in front of any floating toolbars.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

In Microsoft Excel, you can use the Customize dialog box to modify toolbars, menus, and menu items. To display the Customize dialog box, click Customize on the Tools menu.

The Customize dialog box is a special type of dialog box. While the dialog box is displayed, you can still activate menus and move toolbars. If you move a toolbar in front of the Customize dialog box, it will obscure the dialog box even if the dialog box is active. To eliminate this problem, click the title bar of the Customize dialog box.
