The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Word 2000

This article was previously published under Q211946

SYMPTOMS

When you undo the grouping of the thirty-second linked text box to an object, Microsoft Word stops responding (hangs).

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, use one of the following methods appropriate to your situation.

Method 1: Do Not Undo

Use the Ungroup command on the Drawing toolbar instead of the Undo Group Objects command on the Standard toolbar.

Method 2: Do Not Group to the Thirty-Second Text Box

Do not group an object with the thirty-second text box in a sequence. This also includes multiples of the thirty-second instance of a text box in linked sequences. For example, do not group to the thirty-second text box, the sixty-fourth text box, the ninety-sixth text box, and so forth, in linked sequences.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
