The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Word 2000
- Microsoft Office Binder 2000
This article was previously published under Q211918 SYMPTOMS
When you use the Save Version command on the Tools menu in the Save As dialog box to save a Word document from Office Binder, a version of the document is not saved and you may receive the following error message:
This is not a valid file name.
Try one or more of the following:
* Check the path to make sure it was typed correctly.
* Select a file from the list of files or folders.
To locate this command, click Save As File on the Section menu.
CAUSE
The Save Version button in the Save As dialog box can be selected even though this feature is not currently supported in Office Binder. Office Binder does not provide a way for you to open a version of a document.
WORKAROUND
To use the version feature with documents that you include in Office
Binder, save the Word section, close it, open it in Word, and then do the
following:
- On the File menu, click Versions.
- Click Save Now.
- Add any comments and click OK.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
