Comment formatting may be lost when you share a workbook (211717)

SYMPTOMS

When you open a workbook, some of the formatting that you applied to a cell comment in the workbook is lost.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if the workbook is shared.

NOTE: To share a workbook, click Share Workbook on the Tools menu. On the Editing tab, click to select the Allow changes by more than one user at the same time check box and click OK.

WORKAROUND

There is currently no workaround for this problem.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

In Microsoft Excel, you can apply many kinds of formatting to text in a cell comment. If you don't share a workbook, all formatting is retained. However, if you share a workbook, only bold and italic comment formatting is retained. When you save and close a shared workbook, the following formatting is lost:

Font Size
Font Color
Underline
Double Underline
Strikethrough
Superscript
Subscript
