XL2000: Cannot Change Fill Color for Walls or Floor on 3-D Chart (211650)

SYMPTOMS

If you click the Fill Color button on the Formatting toolbar to change the fill color of the walls or floor of a three-dimensional (3-D) chart in Microsoft Excel, the fill color may not change.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if you paste an object onto the walls or floor of a 3-D chart.

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, follow these steps:
  1. Right-click the walls (or floor) of the chart, and click Format Walls (or Format Floor) on the shortcut menu.
  2. On the Patterns tab, click the color you want to use under Area and then click OK.
NOTE: After changing the fill color by using this procedure, the object on the walls (or floor) is no longer visible. You must paste the object onto the walls (or floor) again.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
