WD2000: Error Message: "Cannot Locate Microsoft Conversion Library" Opening Non-Word File (211542)

When you attempt to open a document that was created in non-Word format, one of the following error messages may appear:
Cannot locate Microsoft Conversion Library (Msconv97.dll).
Microsoft Word can't import the specified format. This feature is not currently installed. Would you like to install it now?
CAUSE
You may receive this error if the Msconv97.dll file is in the wrong location.
For example, the error message appears if the Msconv97.dll file is in a different location from the text converters.
The first error message is typically seen when opening WordPerfect files. The second error message is seen when opening other non-Word files for which Word uses an external converter.
RESOLUTION
To correct this problem, use either of the following methods.
Method 1: If Word Cannot Locate the Microsoft Conversion Library- Click OK in the error message box.
- On the Help menu, click Detect and Repair.
- In the Detect and Repair dialog box, click Start.
Method 2: If Word Cannot Import the Specified Format
Click Yes to install the feature. The Windows Installer runs and installs the missing file.
