The information in this article applies to:
This article was previously published under Q211419 SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Word, when you attempt to insert or paste an object into a table cell, the object either floats over the table, or is placed above or below the table.
CAUSE
When you insert either AutoShapes or WordArt into a Word document, the object may be formatted with a wrapping style other than "In line with text."
WORKAROUND
When you insert AutoShapes and WordArt, they are formatted with the wrapping style "In front of text." However, you can paste a picture of one of these objects into a table cell, and format it with the "In line with text" wrapping style. To do this, follow these steps:
- Insert an AutoShape or WordArt object in your document.
- Select the object that you just inserted, and then click Cut on the Edit menu.
- Move the insertion point into the table cell where you want to insert the object.
- On the Edit menu, click Paste Special.
- In the Paste Special dialog box, under As, click Picture, and then click OK.
