WD2000: Cannot Browse Through Comments (211347)

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Word 2000, you cannot browse through the comments in a Word 6.0 or 7.0 document using the Next Comment or Previous Comment button if both of the following are true:
  • You added a comment to the Word 6.0 or 7.0 document.
  • The Word 6.0 or 7.0 document contains comments (annotations) that were inserted by another reviewer.
NOTE: The Next Comment and Previous Comment buttons are located on the Reviewing toolbar. For another method to browse through comments (also affected by the problem described here), see the "More Information" section below.

WORKAROUND

This problem does not occur in documents created in Word 97 or Word 2000. To work around this problem, re-create the Word version 6.0 or 7.0 document in Word 97 or Word 2000.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

For another way to browse comments, do the following:
  1. On the Edit menu, click Go To.
  2. In the Go to what list, click Comment.
  3. In the Enter reviewer's name box, select a reviewer.
  4. Click Next Comment until you find the comment you want.
