This article was previously published under Q210817 SYMPTOMS
After you upgrade your Microsoft Windows NT-based computer to Windows 2000, the SAP Agent service is no longer installed. Note that this occurs even if you previously installed and used the SAP Agent before upgrading to Windows 2000.
CAUSE
This issue occurs because the SAP Agent service is now a Routing and Remote Access component you can use in the "Routing and Remote Access Administration" tool.
RESOLUTION
To work around this issue, you can install the SAP Agent service without adding complete "Routing and Remote Access" functionality:
- Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Network and Dial-up Connections.
- Right-click Local Area Connection, and then click Properties.
- Click Install, click Service in the Select Network Component Type box, and then click Add.
- Click SAP Agent, and then click OK.
- Quit the Network and Dial-up Connections tool, and then close Control Panel.
