Sample Macro
The following macro exhibits the behavior described in the "Symptoms" section of this article. Edit the following macro according to the steps listed later in this article.
Dim appWord As New Word.Application
Dim doc As Document
Dim dlg As Dialog
Set doc = appWord.Documents.Add
Set dlg = appWord.Dialogs(wdDialogFileSaveAs)
appWord.Visible = True
appWord.Activate
dlg.Show
Editing the Sample Macro
To work around this issue, follow these steps:
- Remove the New keyword from the Dim appWord statement.
- Add the following statement before the Set Doc statement.
Set appWord = Word.Application
When you edit the sample macro, the result is the following macro:
Dim appWord As Word.Application
Dim doc As Document
Dim dlg As Dialog
Set appWord = Word.Application
Set doc = appWord.Documents.Add
Set dlg = appWord.Dialogs(wdDialogFileSaveAs)
appWord.Visible = True
appWord.Activate
dlg.Show
