WD2000: Default Tab Stops Added to Settings When You Customize Outline Numbering (210104)

SYMPTOMS

When you customize outline numbering for a particular style setting in Microsoft Word 2000, the change made to the outline numbering format adds the default tab stop interval to tab settings.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, when you change the Outline Numbering style, follow these steps:
  1. On the Format menu, click Bullets and Numbering.
  2. On the Outline Numbered tab, select the numbering style that you want.
  3. Click the Customize button.
  4. In the Customize Outline Numbered List dialog box, change the starting number and make your formatting changes.
  5. Click the More button to view additional settings.
  6. In the Follow number with list box, click Space.
  7. Click OK to save the changes.
  8. On the Format menu, click Tabs.
  9. Remove and then set the required tab intervals in the Tabs dialog box.
  10. Click OK to save your changes.
