WD2000: Error Msg: "Too many DDE channels are open..." Opening Several Documents (210087)

When you try to open multiple Word documents (approximately 19 or more) from the Open dialog box (on the File menu, click Open), not all selected files open.
When you try to open multiple Word documents (approximately 27 or more) from Windows Explorer, the following error message may appear:
Too many DDE channels are open. Please close a window.
When you click OK to the error message, another instance of Word opens, and the remainder of the selected documents open.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, open fewer documents at one time.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
