This article was previously published under Q209921 For a Microsoft Word 2002 version of this article, see 273958.
SYMPTOMS
When you use the grammar checker and your document contains hidden text, the grammar suggestions may vary, depending on which viewing options are selected.
The grammar suggestions may vary for the same sentence, depending on whether the grammar was checked before the text was hidden or after the text was hidden.
CAUSE
This problem can occur because hidden text may change the context of a sentence, and the grammar checker may not always be aware whether the text is hidden or not.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, perform grammar checks while hidden text is not viewable.
- On the Tools menu, click Options.
- On the View tab, under Formatting marks, click to select the Hidden text check box and then click OK.
