When you set paragraph spacing in a Word document, and you then save the file as an HTML file, this paragraph spacing is not maintained when the file is opened in Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5.0.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because the Before and After paragraph spacing is set to Auto.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, set the paragraph spacing to any value other than Auto. To do this, follow these steps:
- Start Word, and then click Open on the File menu.
- In the Open dialog box, click Web Page (*.htm; *.html) in the Files of type box.
- Browse to select your file, and then click Open.
- On the Edit menu, click Select All.
- On the Format menu, click Paragraph.
- In the Paragraph dialog box, click the Indents and Spacing tab.
- In the Spacing pane, click to select a value other than Auto in the Before and After boxes, and then click OK.
- On the File menu, click Save.
When you open your HTML file in Internet Explorer, the spacing is correct.
