ACC2000: User with Full Permissions Cannot Save Changes to a Query (209683)
The information in this article applies to:
This article was previously published under Q209683 Moderate: Requires basic macro, coding, and interoperability skills.
This article applies only to a Microsoft Access database (.mdb).
SYMPTOMS
After changing a query definition, you try to save the query but cannot,
even though you have full permissions on the query and are a member of the
Admins group.
CAUSE
Queries have a property called RunPermissions. You can see the RunPermissions setting in the Query Properties list. If it is set to Owner's, only the owner of the query can save changes to the query's design. Allowing someone else to make changes is a security violation.
RESOLUTION
To enable a user with Modify Definition permissions to save changes to a
query, the user must first change the RunPermissions property setting to User's or arrange to have it changed to User's by someone with permission to do so.
