WD2000: Macro Doesn't Select Reference Type in Cross-Reference Dialog Box (209668)
The information in this article applies to:
This article was previously published under Q209668 SYMPTOMS
When you run a Visual Basic for Applications macro that calls the ReferenceType property for the Cross-reference dialog box ( Insert menu), the option type specified in your macro for the Reference type list may not be selected. Instead, the Cross-reference dialog box displays the last reference type selected or the default option ( Numbered item).
The following macro example demonstrates this behavior:
Sub test()
With Dialogs(WdDialogInsertCrossReference)
.Referencetype= "EndNote"
.Show
End With
End Sub
WORKAROUNDMicrosoft provides programming examples for illustration only, without warranty either expressed or implied. This includes, but is not limited to, the implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. This article assumes that you are familiar with the programming language that is being demonstrated and with the tools that are used to create and to debug procedures. Microsoft support engineers can help explain the functionality of a particular procedure, but they will not modify these examples to provide added functionality or construct procedures to meet your specific requirements.
To work around this problem, edit the macro so that it uses a SendKeys statement to change the reference type to the setting you want.
For example, the following macro changes the Reference type to Endnote and the Insert reference to option to Page number:
Sub test()
With Dialogs(WdDialogInsertCrossReference)
SendKeys "%te"
SendKeys "{enter}"
SendKeys "%r"
SendKeys "{down 1}"
SendKeys "{enter 2}"
.Show
End With
End Sub
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
