Tooltip for Lock Icon Is Missing from Status Bar (208966)

SYMPTOMS

When you view a secure Web site (https://), the tooltip for the Lock icon on the right side of the Status bar may be missing.

CAUSE

This problem can occur because a tooltip only appears with this icon when you first view a secure Web site. For example, if you view a secure Web site and then view another secure Web site, the tooltip may be missing from the Lock icon.

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, press CTRL+F5 to refresh the secure Web site.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
